Matchbook 2020 Petite Sirah
This wine from the Dunnigan Hills AVA, north of Sacramento, explores a more forward, lighter style for this grape. With moderate alcohol the bright, peppery blackberry fruit flavors are front and center. The blend includes 17% Petit Verdot which has helped to bring up the floral aromatics. This is a most accessible, fruit-driven style, although the drying tannins are still showing. For value and sheer enjoyment this wine is right at the top.
