Berryessa Gap 2018 Durif

The winery is all in on Petite Sirah, going so far as to make this Durif (the original French hybrid) as a separate bottling. A multiple gold medal winner, it's sexy and sassy and seductive, with palate-coating raspberry and cherry fruit, tannins as smooth as milk chocolate, supporting acids and a pleasing earthy substratum with a streak of mineral. In short, this is a dense, detailed and delicious bottle at a very good price.

1190 cases; 14.5% abv; $35
